  • Nothing In Business Is Free - Or Is It??

Posted on April 5th, 2009 admin No comments

The recession has hit us all hard and is on everyone’s minds.  As a consumer we love the chance to get something for free and we relish the opportunity to buy one get one free or to receive a free gift.  In business though we approach the phrase, “for free” with an air of caution.

So why do we shy away from the phrase “for free”? - “Nothing in life is for free” - the idea of the catch and being too good to be true.

    • Are they going to charge me once I am doing it?
    • Am I tied into a contract where I’m going to be charged later?

Free marketing is the catchphrase of the moment with many companies offering this but not following through with the true meaning of it.  Many offer free options that do not allow you to truly market your company and have upgrade fees to get the type of marketing you really want.  Others allow you to have a free month or trial, often overcharging you in the months proceeding to recoup their loses.

What has Blue Light Card found?

At Blue Light Card we have experienced this caution first hand; offering free marketing opportunities to companies for them to be part of this service has instilled fear in some.  The Blue Light Card can work for any company and allow money to only be spent when money is made.  Any budget can incorporate that option.  We take this route as we feel that this will allow any company to join the scheme, large or small, and will in the long run allow better choice for our members. In response to the cautious questions:

    • We do not charge companies to be part of the scheme
    • We do not charge you later to be part of the scheme

We really do offer free marketing.  We like to be up front and open about what we offer - free marketing to companies in exchange for a special offer or discount for our members.  We are not out to make money from companies by charging them to be part of our service as so many in the industry are.  We feel that if you are able to give a special offer or discount why should you be charged for the pleasure.  I know it is another coined phrase, but this really is recession proof marketing.  Blue Light Card presents the opportunity to market to a closed market and only spend money when  making money.  The best thing about it is that companies keep control with their own account area - if it is not working, change the offer. We allow companies to have their own webpage that they can manipulate themselves whenever they wish.  Effectively we give companies their own website and we bring the target audience to them.

It is simple enough for companies to be part of our scheme and recent months have seen many turning to us as a viable marketing option.  In the months ahead we hope to attract many more companies, aiming to double our already large company base.  Free marketing is out there, its here, so why not be part of it?!
