Help Center

Welcome to the Blue Light Card Local Partners Help Centre. Here you can find answers to common questions about managing your Blue Light Card offer, updating your business details and promoting your partnership.

Joining the Business Hub

It's simple to join the Business Hub and get your business and offer listed quickly. Simply click here to sign up. If you are already signed up then you can login here. You’ll need one unique email address for each business in order to sign-up and list for that business.

Adding your logo

We recommend adding your logo or an image/photo of your business to help our members recognise you and help you stand out on the app amongst other listings.

We require your image or logo to meet certain criteria to enable it to be displayed properly and clearly.

  • The image should be uploaded as either a jpg or png file.
  • Your logo should ideally have a ratio of 2:1 (width:height) and be a minimum 640 × 320 pixels (a landscape rectangle).

If you upload a logo that is a different size ratio it may appear distorted when displaying in our app. If you don’t upload a logo or image then your listing will appear with our Blue Light Card or Defence Discount Service Local offer logo as default:

Top Tip: To check the size of your logo on a Windows computer:
Right-click the image → Properties → Details → check the Dimensions

You can use Microsoft paint to easily resize your image.

  1. Open the image in Paint
  2. Select the Resize and skew tool
  3. Select pixels and enter 640 in the Horizontal box and 320 in the vertical box. You may need to deselect the maintain aspect ratio icon if your image is not 2:1
  4. Select OK and save

Business website

When adding your business as a local partner, we ask for a website link so we can verify your business details and eligibility.

If you don’t have a dedicated website, a link to your Facebook or Instagram business page is absolutely fine.

We’re also working on further improvements that will allow members to access your website directly from the Blue Light Card app, making it easier for them to view your products and services before visiting.

Target Member Groups

When adding your business in the Business Hub, you can choose whether your offer is available to:

  • Blue Light Card members only
  • Defence Discount Service members only
  • Both member groups

Who these groups include:

Blue Light Card members
NHS, emergency services, social workers, armed forces and teachers.

Defence Discount Service members
Armed forces, veterans and the armed forces community.

Top Tip: If you select both member groups, make sure your offer description and terms and conditions clearly mention both groups. This helps avoid confusion at the point of redemption.

Adding your location

To help members find your business on the map, we ask for your location coordinates. These are two numbers:

  • Latitude – the first number
  • Longitude – the second number (after the comma)

Using Google Maps on a computer

  1. Go to Google Maps and search for your business address
  2. Find the exact location of your business on the map
  3. Right-click on the correct spot
  4. The coordinates will appear at the top of the menu
  5. Click the numbers to copy them

Example:
52.27727, -0.084298
Latitude = 52.27727
Longitude = -0.084298

Expired Offer

When creating an offer, you can choose the date it will expire. By default, the expiry date will be set to three years from the date the offer is created, but you can change this to any date up to a maximum of three years ahead using the calendar within the Business Hub.

Offers do not renew automatically, so you will need to log into the Business Hub to update your offer and set a new expiry date if you wish it to continue.

You will receive an email reminder before your offer expires so you have time to review and update it if needed.

Pausing your offer

You can pause your offer at any time by logging into the Business Hub and selecting a new expiry date. Your offer details will remain saved but unpublished, so you can easily make it live again whenever you're ready.

Adding your offer image

Offer T&Cs

Why are Terms & Conditions important?

Terms & Conditions help make sure your offer is clear, fair, and easy to understand for customers. They set expectations before someone redeems the offer, which helps avoid confusion at the point of sale and protects both you and the customer.

What should Terms & Conditions include?

For most small businesses, T&Cs only need to cover a few key things:

  • When the offer is valid
Example: specific days, times, or expiry dates. This should also be in your offer title if it is limited.
  • What the offer applies to
Example: food only, services only, full-price items only.
  • Any exclusions
Example: drinks, packages, discounted items, or special events.
  • How the offer must be redeemed
Example: showing a Blue Light Card, booking in advance, or paying in person.
  • Whether it can be combined with other offers
Most businesses include something like: “Not valid with other promotions or discounts.”

Do Terms & Conditions need to be long?

No. In most cases 1–3 short sentences is enough. The aim is to keep them clear and easy to read, especially on a mobile screen.

What happens if I don’t include T&Cs?

Without T&Cs, customers may assume the offer applies to everything at any time, which can lead to misunderstandings when they try to redeem it.

Example of simple T&Cs

Valid Monday–Thursday. Excludes drinks and set menus. Not valid with other promotions.

Change of Contact

Please let us know if you need to change contact details for your business including the email address you use to log into the Business Hub. Please get in touch via this form.

Redeeming an offer

To redeem an offer, a Blue Light Card or Defence Discount Service member must show a valid Blue Light Card. This can be either a physical card or a digital card displayed in the Blue Light Card app.

There is no need for a discount code, voucher, or additional webpage - simply checking the valid card and applying the discount is sufficient.

You can reset your password at any time using the Forgotten password link on the sign-in page.
