An important update about your Blue Light Card account

We take member privacy and data protection very seriously here at Blue Light Card.

As part of our ongoing commitment to this, we’ve updated our password policy. This means you may need to update your password from today – 27th February 2024.

By protecting your account with a stronger password, it’s less vulnerable to any malicious activity. Together, this means you’re protecting the discounts you love from being accessed by those who aren’t eligible.

This change is mandatory from 27th February 2024. If your password does not meet the strong password policy criteria below, you won’t be able to log in until you change it.

What is a strong password?

This is a password that contains all of the following: 

One uppercase letter

• One lowercase letter

• One special character from this approved list: @ $ ~ # % & ! * ? ^ -

• One number

• A minimum of 10 characters

• No more than two repeated characters in a row

If your password contains all of the above right now, you don’t need to change it.

Before I change my password, is there anything else I need to know?

Good question!

We recommend you download the latest version of the Blue Light Card app from the App Store for iPhone users, or Google Play if you own an Android phone.

We also recommend you update your app settings to auto-update. Your phone will then automatically download the latest version of the app as and when we release a new update.

How to change your password?

If your current password does not meet the strong password policy explained above, you won’t be able to log in and you will see a message asking you to change your password.

You can do this on our website or app. If doing it via the app, please check you have downloaded the latest version.

Here’s how you change it:

1. Open the Blue Light Card app or website

2. When prompted, click ‘Forgot Password’

3. Follow the instructions by entering your email address

4. You will receive an email containing an authentication link and code, along with instructions for changing your password

5. Enter your new password, matching the strong password policy above

If you get stuck at any point, please read the following:

I haven’t received an authentication code

This should arrive instantly after you click forgotten password, but please allow up to 24 hours if it doesn’t.

I can’t seem to change my password via the app, please help

You may need to download the latest version. Please check you’ve done this via the App Store for iPhone users, or Google Play if you own an Android phone.

I’m having trouble changing my password, what do I do next?
