While it had been on the horizon for a while, we began this journey together more 100 days ago when, on March 23rd, Prime Minister, Boris Johnson announced that the UK's public needed to close their doors and go into lockdown to slow the spread of COVID-19.

As British businesses closed up shop and families stayed safe at home however, our members have continued to work on the front line to keep our communities safe, healthy and supported at a time when we are at our most vulnerable. Not only have you continued to go into the unknown risks that may occur during a 'normal' shift but have also committed yourselves to standing together to face down this new threat and protect us all.

As the Coronavirus pandemic continued to increase pressure on our country's NHS, emergency services and social care sector, the team at Blue Light Card knew it was important to work with our commercial partners to show our members how much we appreciate your dedication and compassion during this unprecedented time. View our latest video to see how we're choosing to stand together and share it with your loved ones to let them know you care!

When we started to say 'Thank you'

In a bid to say ‘thank you’ for everything you do for us, we enlisted the help of retailers up and down the UK to ramp up their offers with us, to give our members an exceptional range of increased discounts, fantastic giveaways and HUGE competitions and help you save money and time when you shop - and hopefully lessen some of the stress that you and your families might be experiencing at the moment.

Tom Dalby, CEO of Blue Light Card, said:
"It's times like this we value our Blue Light community even more.
“It's a small way to give back but these bigger discounts, offers and prizes are our way of saying ‘thank you’ for their dedication during the coming weeks and months."

Perking up members with a little 'Pick me up'

Launched on International Nurses Day (Tuesday 12 May) and throughout the months since, we've worked closely with charity, In Kind Direct, to pull together and deliver free pallets (containing over £3.5million worth of ‘pick me up’ items) to a whopping 79 NHS trusts and emergency service organisations across the UK. Each pallet included a mix of personal care items and treats such as chocolates, soft drinks and hand creams, which we hoped would help show our support and raise a smile on the faces of those working so hard to protect our communities.

We know times are tough right now but feel that our members should never feel that they're facing this struggle alone. That's why our team are proud to go further for those who go furthest for us; now and beyond the pandemic. Because together, we are stronger, and together we will always do more.
