FAQs & eligibility

Who is eligible?

Staff employed by organisations and NGOs that work directly on homelessness across the UK are eligible. Additionally, those working in wider organisations with roles directly addressing homelessness are also eligible.

Who isn’t eligible?

Currently, those who volunteer for homelessness-related work are not eligible for a Blue Light Card. We are focusing on individuals who are employed full-time or part-time by organisations dedicated to homelessness.

Why aren’t volunteer homelessness workers eligible?

At this time, we are concentrating on expanding our services to employees working directly on homelessness. We recognise the incredible work volunteers do and are exploring options to include them in the future.

Will you make volunteers eligible soon?

While volunteers are not currently eligible, we understand the importance of their contributions. We are actively considering ways to include volunteers in our program, so please stay tuned for updates.

What if I work in an organisation that is not listed here?

If your organisation is not currently listed but is involved in homelessness-related work, please reach out to our support team at contact@bluelightcard.co.uk. Share the details of your organisation, and our eligibility team will review them. If your organisation meets our criteria, we will add it to our list.

What ID is required to sign up for Blue Light Card?

To sign up for a Blue Light Card, the following forms of identification are required:
- People working in NGOs working solely on homelessness: A trusted work email address
- People undertaking homelessness roles in other types of organisations: You will also need a valid ID card or a recent payslip that includes your job title.

Why do I need to pay for my card?

Your Blue Light Card costs just £4.99 for two years, providing access to thousands of discounts and rewards both online and on the high street. These range from grocery shopping and utilities to fashion and holidays. Our app allows you to use the card on the go, ensuring you never miss out on discounts.

How long does it take to have your membership approved?

Once you apply, it can take up to 7 working days for your membership to be reviewed and approved. However, this time may vary depending on the volume of applications.
